During Day 13 cross-examination, Sturdivant placed the first suspected fragment he saw on unburned grass south of the burn pit. He said most fragments he concentrated on were within the pit, with some intertwined in steel-belted tire wire, and did not know whether other officers collected fragments elsewhere.
