About
In Steven Avery's 2007 trial, Scott Bloedorn was identified as Teresa Halbach's roommate and discussed for his part in the search after she disappeared. Ryan Hillegas said Bloedorn called him on November 3 after Halbach's father asked whether she had been seen. Hillegas described the two of them helping assign mapped search areas. Pam Sturm testified that Bloedorn and Hillegas were organizing volunteers when she arrived on November 5, and that Bloedorn lent her a digital camera at her request before she went to Avery Salvage Yard.
Investigator Mark Wiegert said officers spoke with Bloedorn during the initial missing-person inquiry and again later. On cross-examination, Hillegas said he did not believe investigators probed whether Bloedorn and Halbach had an intimate relationship, but did not know whether they asked Bloedorn for an October 31 alibi. A fingerprint examiner said Bloedorn's comparison prints were available and reported no identifications from the tested vehicle prints and listed items. In closing, defense counsel argued that investigators had not checked Bloedorn's alibi; that was counsel's argument, not a finding about Bloedorn's whereabouts or involvement.
