Calumet County lieutenant involved in perimeter security and searches of the Avery property.
About
Calumet County Lieutenant Brett Bowe testified in Steven Avery's trial about security and searches at the Avery property. He described two searches of roughly 4,000 salvaged vehiclesโfirst for a body, then more thoroughly for specific itemsโas well as searches of ponds and surrounding terrain, while acknowledging that some wooded areas did not receive the same large-scale search. Questioning about a later March search distinguished the property-entry point from separate property and building logs. Bowe said he logged people entering and leaving the residence but did not search inside it, and could not account for garage activity beyond what he saw from his post. In Brendan Dassey's trial, another search-team member identified Bowe as one of two officers who relayed most of his assignments.
